Mathieu Matégot was a Hungarian French designer. He moved to France in 1931 where he had a workshop in Paris. He started producing handmade furniture and was the first person to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal: ritigulle. This use became a signature of Matégot’s work. The ground breaking and innovative techniques that he applied resulted in unique aesthetics and furniture designs that are still today seen as unique. In 1959, Matégot began to work on a previous passion of his; tapestry design.
