Émile Gilioli is considered to be one of the leaders of French abstract sculpture of the years of the 1950. His work is exhibited throughout the world and takes part in the collections of the greatest museums. It is through his numerous encounters that Émile Gilioli ends up breaking with academicism and will turn to abstraction while keeping notions of cubism in his works. The creation that Émile Gilioli realizes are marked by an oscillation between the rigor of the sign and the sensuality of the forms, his sculptures tending to be rising in space like real architectures; their sober and pure silhouette expressing a strong spatial dynamic. Émile Gilioli will be solicited for numerous public creations throughout his career.
